Elecuter Cloud Platform
Elecuter's Cloud Platform is an open framework for building Cloud applications, which allows you to build public and private clouds to back your application. It has been developed to simplify the development of database systems which can be deployed across multiple servers, and enables applications to take advantage of peer-to-peer strategies.
Like many Cloud technologies, the Cloud Platform's aim is to reduce IT infrastructure costs whilst at the same time increase redundancy to minimise the impact of a server failure. Unlike competing technologies, the Elecuter Cloud provides greater flexibility and control over where data is stored, allowing scenarioes where key data is retained in-house. Further flexibility allows data to be distributed between sites or with a peer organisation, transmitted over secure connexions and encrypted within the destination system providing a full backup service for fail-over or load balancing.
We chose to make the Elecuter Cloud Platform Open Source and independent of our network servers in order that you can either form your own separate cloud space, or share your space with the rest of the Internet. A key benefit is that you can be confident that if you develop your application using the Elecuter Cloud Platform today, you will still be able to continue development in the future. You can also be confident that if you change your policies in the future, you can take your data back in-house with only minor configuration changes.
As critical infrastrucutre, our commercial partners Network Ltd can provide developers and IT staff with the support they need. Network also manages the Cloud Platform's central Network, VidNet, which delivers storage for public data.
Control I/O Library
As an addendum to the Cloud Platform, the Control I/O Library provides functionality to capture data from input devices, and send data to output devices. Data can thence be trasnferred troughout your cloud hierarchy and analysed as required.
Further, as part of this project we have developed and assembled electronic details of several simple I/O devices which can be used with this library.
